Jonesborough Repertory Theatre welcomes to the stage Peter Cook and Dudley Moore’s Tony Award-winning revue “Good Evening.” The show, described as a definitive anthology of British sketch comedy, will run here June 24-26.
For this 1973 production, Cook and Moore supplemented original sketches with material drawn from their groundbreaking 1961 revue “Beyond the Fringe” and their acclaimed BBC program “Not Only... But Also.”
The result set the record for the longest run of a two-man show on Broadway. This hilarious and often wildly skewed collection combines classic sketches like “Down the Mine” and “One Leg Too Few” with newer ones such as “The Gospel Truth” which have since become classics in their own right.
Bill Williams will be directing these infamous comedy sketches starring Dee Bailey and Bill Counts.
The JRT looks forward to hosting this brilliantly funny show on three very special “good evenings.” A “Good Evening” will also be provided by Jonesborough’s local restaurants and lodging establishments.
