An Original Theatre Piece.

“Family: Can’t Live With ‘em, Can’t Live Without ‘em” is a theatre piece created by 7 teens from the Tri-Cities. Over 12 weeks these teens have been working using Transformative Theatre to explore their lives and themes relevant to them. The theme of family soon surfaced and the teens created a performance exploring the issues and feelings that come up for them surrounding family. The piece is autobiographical in nature but names and details have been changed to protect the participants and their families. Please come and support the youth of the community and hear their stories!
Transformative Theatre was derived from Drama Therapy. It was developed by Drama Therapists Janna Browning and Rena Marie Jones, who along with Maria Breaux, formed the production company ACTUALeyes Productions. Transformative Theatre uses storytelling, improvisation, and other theatre techniques to explore the lives of the participants and to create original performance pieces that promote confidence. self-awareness, self expression, and empathy.
ACTUALeyes Productions practices the values of empathy, understanding, and mindfulness in conducting Transformative Theatre sessions in a broad range of communities. We create stage and screen pieces based on the experiences of the participants, with an eye toward full production for our stage works and international distribution opportunities for films. We’re dedicated to providing our subjects with opportunities beyond what may be their existing choices.
