The USO Show - 2006
July 1 & 2
After many sold out performances, amazing crowd responses, and much work from
a fabulous cast and crew, Jonesborough Days 2006 and Jonesborough Repertory
Theatre collaborated once again to present a 1940s USO Show.
This all-new production, directed and designed by Jennifer Schmidt,
showcased 1940s music, radio skits, and dance numbers.
"JRT is fortunate to draw on an amazing pool of talent for these USO shows,"
says JRT Artistic Director, Kathleen Buttolph. "Each USO production, while
similar in format, has had a new twist of song, spirit, and dance – all themed
to the sentiment of the USO in the1940s."
For one night only, JRT took their 1940s USO Show on
the road. The show traveled on Saturday, July 8 to the beautiful newly
renovated Capitol Theatre of historic downtown Greeneville, TN. Much of the music was arranged by Greeneville’s own, Matt
Williams - band director of Mosheim Middle School and founding band director of
West Greene High School.
JRT actors included Josh Baldwin, John Beard, Joe Borden, Andy Cobble, MeLissa
Crockett, Janette Gaines, Rachel Gloess, Becky Harris, Kim Jones, Kim Lundin,
Chris McVey, Shelyne Ponder Jennifer Schmidt, Don Squibb, and Sharon Squibb. A
five-piece band, included Beth Blevins, Josh Culbert, Barb Knisley, Lucas
Schmidt, and Matt Williams. The production crew was Scott Hardy, Holley Housewright, William Jones, Mike Schmidt, Brian Ponder, and Rachel Ponder.
Special guest performances by The Dance Company of Johnson City and by one of
JRT’s favorite couples, Frank and Barb Knisley. Shirley Stelzer was the USO
costume designer.
